The keys holding the flywheels in place are the headless type so in order to get them out I removed the flywheel pinch bolt and cleaned the ends so I could weld on a piece of 3/8" all thread. I threaded the all thread directly onto my slide hammer through an adapter I made and then used the slide hammer to pull the keys right out. This is a great method and also allows you to save the keys for re-use.
The pin on the end of the camshaft that drives both the fuel pump and the ignitor trip was badly worn. Once the flywheels were off I tried to get the cam out but it would only go so far and then bind in the block, this being the case I built the worn area back up with my wire feed welder and filed it down to size. Looks like it should work well now……..
