After working all day Sat. on the shrink links,(we averaged 2 1/2 hrs. each in removing them) Sun. was devoted to getting a rod cap off. That sounds like a 10 min. job until you get a look at the rod cap we were taking off. This monster weighs between 400 and 500 lbs. and it did NOT come off easily! Rick and Craig are really happy in this picture--they are simply tired from the days work. Note the bad babbitt in the bearing. Any ideas on how to pour 325 lbs. of babbitt? That's what the specks say this baby needs! Well, that's it for now. There will be another work session next month. Any volunteers? We need all the help we can get!
