This is a 3 HP C.H.E. Manufacturing hit and miss engine direct coupled to a mud pump. It's on a factory original pump outfit cart. The company apparently made a lot of different outfits including a table saw setup.
The company was located in Milwaukee, WI and the S/N tag gives a patent date of October 9, 1917 so it's probably late teens or early twenties manufacture. The S/N is 1242231.
The oiler is just sitting there so it looks "crooked." It's got a newly rebuilt brass Simms mag (not in the pictures) that sits on top of the engine (behind the hopper) and bolts into the round bracket with the timing gears.
I'll bet this sucker will SLOSH a lot of water! Come on Summer!
