I purchased this engine at auction on 9 August 2003. This engine is a Type DX of 6hp. This engine was shipped from Stover Engine Works on December 9 1913 to Invincible Motor Const. Co, Sydney.
I am missing the carby, main bearing caps, and transporter. Any help with finding these parts would be greatly appreciated.
The engine has a bore of approx. 5.5 inches, stroke 10 inches, and the flywheels have a diameter of 39 inches with a 2.5 inch face.
The Stover
as seen at the auction
The head
removed for inspection
The cylinder
looks OK but someone has cut three of the studs off to remove the head.
The ignitor
will clean up fine with a bit of work
The fuel
pump drive. The pump mounts on the flat section of the crankcase.
The cam
gear. The missing govenor detent mounts on the post behind the gear
Part of
one govenor mount is missing and the key has been removed from one flywheel.
30 August
2003. Picked up a fuel pump body, govenor detent/ speed controller and a
spare set of govenors from Edd Payne.

Close up
of the head showing the fuel saver mechanism.

This engine is virtually identical to what mine
should look like!

Here you
can see the fuel system. I am in need of a carby for my engine.

I am also
in need of bearing caps (like these) for my engine.
