Austral Flyball Governed Engines (circa1908)

Only one example of this style of Austral is known to survive. This style seems to have been an experiment by the Austral Works in the change over period from the pusrod engines tothe 'Carter' style govenor and vaporiser.

Note the indent on the crankcase of the engine above for the sideshaft gear. This is either a converted engine or was built from left over castings from the pushrod era.

The only known surviving flyball governed sideshaft Austral. No.226 4hp dispatched 17/11/1908
