This really nice marine power plant is a Standard Gas Engine, built in San Francisco. It was a real head-turner.

Here is an 80 h.p. 3 cylinder 1910 Fairbanks-Morse Type R. Total displacement: 3706 cubic inches. Weight: 18,000 pounds.

Lew Layton and Harvey Hilands are the proud owners of this gigantic beauty. In its other lifetime it powered an alfalfa seed mill at Echo, Oregon.

This beautiful 1913 20 h.p. Cushman was restored by Stanley Guldin of Minden, Nevada.

If I had the choice of any engine at the 2000 show at Brooks, this 1906 8 h.p. Root and Vandervoort would be it, hands down!

Frank DeYoung is the proud owner of this beauty. In its previous life it ran a grain elevator somewhere in Oregon.

My brothers, being a bit older than I, got to haul the crop into the grain elevator at Worthing, South Dakota. They tell stories of having to wait while the elevator man went to start the one-lung engine before they could unload. I always wondered what make and date it was.
