John Deere "Custom Color" Garden Tractors

During 1969, John Deere introduced the "Custom Color" garden tractors, also known by collectors today as the "Patio" garden tractors.  The 1969 models offered in the "Custom Colors" were the models 110, 112, and 140.  The model 120 was added to the list for the 1970 model year.  The John Deere Horicon Works marketing group felt that not all customers would want a green garden tractor and if they offered different colors, their sales would increase.  In 1969 the whole "Custom Color" garden tractors were painted white except the hood and seat, of course.  The colors offered were, Sunset Orange, Patio Red, Spruce Blue, and April Yellow.  These colors matched the colors of John Deere's competitors.  The tractor would be shipped without the hood and seat, and then the dealer would add the color of choice of the customer.

All the attachments were painted "Dogwood White" to match the tractor.  Some attachments were:  #80 cart, #39, #41, #47, and #48 mower decks, #37A and #49 snow blowers, #5A sprayer, #43 and #54 push blade, and #31 and #33 tillers.
