This is a NOVO JR 1 hp TYPE "S" engine. Serial Number 38847.
We bought this at an auction by Jackson, Michigan. The guy that passed
away had a barn full of good stuff.

The fuel pump and fuel pump handle / rocker arm setting on the water hopper were in the bottom of the water hopper when we bought it. |
This shows the open crankcase on the left side of the base. |
The fuel pump handle/rocker arm on the water hopper is for a 1-1/2 hp Novo. The guy we bought it from must have been using it for a pattern to make the one that's on the engine. The fuel pump handle/rocker arm for a 1hp was just a little shorter than the one for the 1-1/2hp model. |

This is a closer shot of the governor, timing gears, detent blade, and home made fuel pump handle/rocker arm. |
This shows the carb which is a new casting, missing fuel lines, and the fuel pump handle missing off of the fuel pump handle/rocker arm that previous owner was fabricating. |

There was a major clunking when rolling it over so I took the head off to see. The wrist pin is shot and shims need removed from the big end bearing. |
Here's a shot of the piston. What's that glob on top with a bolt through it? |
Another shot of the glob and bolt on top of the piston. |
Piston, connecting rod, wrist pin, bearing cap. |
Connecting rod needed a new babbit bearing. Below shows some pictures of the process.
heating things up, removing moisture

filing and scraping are next……..
