Pictured here is a vertical air cooled internal combustion model engine. It was designed and first built by Reg Ingold of Newcastle. N.S.W, Australia. It requires simple machining with a lathe and mill to build. No castings are needed to produce this model. A bonus to using no castings is if a mistake is made simply pitch the bad part in the junk bin, grab another piece of scrap metal, and have another go at it. The sizes can be modified like cylinder diameter, flywheel diameter, crankshaft diameter, as long as the main working dimensions are maintained the variations are endless. The model engine pictured has a 1.5 inch bore, 2 inch stroke, and 9 inch flywheel diameter. Plans are available to build this model for $35, which includes shipping.
