This is a Letz Mill. It's all rusty and froze up. I do have the hopper for it. The bottom of the hopper is rusted a little bit but might be useable. |
Found it at a junk yard. Couldn't quite pay the junk price though :-) |
In the picture below there was a break running through the cover for the plates. |
Below shows it in the garage while I'm working on it. |
Not one part moved on it. After alot of heating and beating it's coming along. |
I got the main shaft rotating and the plate covers removed. I thought I would remove the old u-joint that someone welded to the main shaft. I torched the u-joint off leaving a sleeve over the shaft. |
I then torched the sleeve using the keyway on the main shaft to blow the crap into. |
Here you can see where I hacksawed the sleeve down to the original shaft all the way around. This took a lot of time and I was careful not to cut into the main shaft. I used a grinder to remove the material between the hacksaw cut and the right edge of the weld. |
Split the sleeve apart a little and off it comes. I wanted this little extra bit of shaft so I could mount a flat belt pulley back on the mill. |

Here's the slag and other bits after removal. |
