Coldwell Mowers

Fuller & Johnson engines were used on Coldwell lawn mowers.  From 1924 thru 1926 1020 model NB and NC engines ranging from 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 hp were shipped for use on mowers.  A special splash guard was screwed over the hopper which also incorporated a second tin crank guard to help keep clippings out of the moving parts.  Coldwell also used a special engine designed and built by Fuller & Johnson to power their model L mowers.  3301 of these little upright radiator cooled engines were shipped between 1923 and 1927.  Most of these used a Bosch high tension gear driven magneto for ignition, I have seen an early one that used a battery and buzz coil.  In 1927 Coldwell and Fuller & Johnson had a major disagreement.  Fuller & Johnson decided to built their own complete mower unit, this resulted in the loss of Coldwell's business.
