Producer Gas System

The images below are from a 1908 Fairbanks Morse catalog. They illustrate the various components and layout of these systems that were designed to produce a gaseous fuel from solid coal for use in stationary internal combustion engines.  The text points out the claimed advantages of this system over the then common steam powered systems.  The claims include such things as fuel efficiency, safety, lower labor costs, etc.
