Painting / Finished

The only paint left on the engine was on the block, it had a thick coat of filler (white) and showed a darker green under the final lighter green. I think the engine was repainted lighter when it was converted to petrol.

I decided to repaint it in the lighter green as I assume it spent most of its life in that colour.

The Crossley had a fairly smooth casting with very few high spots to grind back and reduced the amount of fill..

Very few low spots were filled with body putty.

All parts sprayed with a light coat of spray putty, then rubbed back smooth

Completed painted engine.

Front of engine now as it was built.

The Crossley was built as a stationary engine but has been placed on a transporter for ease of movement at rallies. The water tank style is common in Australia.
