Sprout-Waldron 16" Stone Burr Grist Mill

The original pulley on the mill was a four belt wide v-belt pulley. A friend of mine took a piece of 1/8" steel plate 6" wide, wrapped it around and welded it to the v-belt pulley. This is the way it turned out. I wrapped a couple layers of friction tape around the center of the pulley for a crown. It works great. Since this picture was taken, I've roughed up the surface of the pulley a little so that the belt will grab better.
Here is the bedstone after a final pecking. From this angle the furrows don't show up very well but they're there. The furrows are about 5/16" inch deep at the eye of the stone and feather out to about 1/16" at the edge of the stone. The runner stone is cut the same way.
Here are a couple pictues of the hopper. The hopper is made out of 1/2" plywood. Though I could have bought a castiron receiver for the hopper from Meadows, it was costly and I wasn't sure if it would fit the metering sleeve I already had. So I fabricated the part from some flat plate and a piece of pipe that I already had. Came out pretty nice. I'll cut the pipe to length after I determine how long it needs to be. This style hopper is not standard with this mill. I figured I would never find original parts that were missing, so I built this one. It will eventually be held in place by a wooden frame built around the mill and will feed corn into the mill similar to the way a Meadows mill does.
Stay tuned..... The trailer and engine are ready and I hope to move the engine onto the trailer and start reassembling the mill and building the support structure in the Spring.
