I went to the New
York Steam Engine Association's Pageant of Steam
show
in
Canandaigua,
NY this past Saturday, as a spectator (my
Taylor engine wasn't ready yet). This is a very large
show, with hundreds of stationary engines and tractors on display.
The club owns this land, and has several permanent buildings housing large
permanent displays, like the Corliss steam engine and a steam tractor
powered sawmill. They put on a plowing demonstration in an adjacent
field as well. Unfortunately, I ran out of battery power on my
digital camera before I photographed everything I wanted to (there are no tractor
pictures for instance).
I found two Taylor
Vacuum Engines to look at, one fully restored and functional, and another
rusty one that was for sale, so I learned a lot about how my engine's
supposed to work by looking at these. I
hope you enjoy the pictures.
