As many know, Neville is one of South Africa's most experienced collectors of anything vintage and is the mainstay of the engine section of our club. His collection of engines, garage equipment, petrol pumps, dairy equipment and many other vintage articles is envied by all. Luann, his better half, also has an impressive collection of sewing machines and other household articles. Neville,
assisted by Luann, always goes to great lengths to make our show interesting
and this year was no exception. This year he had 18 engines running ranging from his 1926 1 1/2 H.P. PetterAcorntop to a 1946 11 H.P. Ruston & Hornsby driving a Sunshine Corn sheller/husker. Corn was first "dehusked" and shelled in the Sunshine and then ground in a Premier corn mill driven by a Bamford engine - this ran throughout the 2 days of the show. This operation was ably handled by Luann, granddaughter Lusandi and a friend, Chardonnay. The fresh mealie meal was packed and sold to waiting queues of spectators. Neville and Luann - I salute you - well done my friends! |
