Steam at Sandstone Cosmos & Steam Weekend.
9th & 10th April 2005

The highlight of the weekend was without doubt the Sandstone narrow gauge railway. There were a number of trains running and visitors could experience this almost forgotten mode of transport. Excursions through the fields of cosmos and farm were run all weekend with full loads of passengers and many photographic opportunities arose. Passenger coaches as well as open trucks were used. The open trucks were ideal for photographers and hot ash in the hair was the order of the day.
Unfortunately, not being involved in steam, I am not able to give technical descriptions of the various locomotives and coaches but you may read more about the Sandstone Railway, it's rolling stock and their preservation efforts at their site.
