PORTLAND 1999

The Sale Area

Every one spent time in the extensive sale area - I think I even heard one List member claim to have covered the entire area, after about three days! Mere photographs, especially from one who spent very little time out there, cannot possibly convey to anyone who has never attended Portland just how much there is to see - and to buy!

Most of the engines for sale were restoration projects, apparantly this one at $6,500 just "needs paint", and this one "runs good". This one appeared to need more than cosmetic attention, even when the manure was removed! Engines had been brought in by the trailer-full; all sizes, all conditions and all makes. There was a nice looking Monitor and plenty of Maytags to choose from.

For those not interested in engines, there were all possible alternatives, such as coffee grinders, household equipment and steam whistles.
