
| The third of the original jobs was the roof. The house, seen on the left of this picture, was originally just a 2-up, 2-down, but an extension was added about 75 years ago to give two extra rooms upstairs and a big kitchen downstairs. The roof of the new part is at a different pitch to the old one, and at the point they joined, rain was getting in. When the wind came from the east it would drive the rain in under the slates until it was dripping onto the landing! Here, looking across the bags of rubbish from the lounge ceiling, you can see the scaffold ready for work to begin on the roof. |
