While waiting for the bearing for the National engine to be made, there was just time for another project which had waited 8 years to come to the top of the list. Jim bought this Dando deep well pump in ready-to-assemble kit form from another collector. Of course, there were no handy Lego-type instructions for how to build it up, only some photographs of a similar pump. With the help of son Tom and an engine hoist, however, it soon took shape, and several evenings / spare afternoons later we had a new addition to the garden ornaments.

The name "Dando" comes from Duke and Ockenden who began making pumps in 1867; Dando pumps are still being made today - check out the Dando company history.
