The Straight Mile, through the centre of Leicester. This was one of the areas which, in the past, might have been unpleasant to travel through, but now it has been cleaned up and luxury appartments built so it's a perfectly nice route to take. Secure moorings are available at Castle Gardens, on the opposite side from the tow path. The moorings are fenced off, accessible only by means of a British Waterways key.
