Six forward and six reverse speeds are available, arranged in three groups of two speeds. A power feed to the rear saddle was fitted. Headstock capacity was the same as the 2A, but with slightly greater between centres length of 11½"
Capacity is 5½" centre height and 1¼" through the headstock and bar feed. Chuck capacity 1-1/4". The headstock casting carries all the gearing and ball/roller bearings for the spindle. The motor drive to the gearbox is by twin belts from the motor.
