The No.3A was a larger brother to the No2A which had already proved very popular with manufacturers in the motor and aero industries. The machine was very similar and needed no special training for operators moving up from the No.2A. Powered saddle feed was provided, and the overhead toolpost support bar was a standard provision.
This machine was the largest in the 'A' range, and could be supplied with integral electric motor or single pulley drive, but the geared headstock precluded the use of the stepped pulley drive as fitted to the No.3 machine. Capacity was the same as the No.3, and it would accept 1¾" through the spindle and bar feed.
