Coventry Dieheads

Some details of the heads and jigs etc - Page 2

The range of chasers available covered all types of machine and other screw types. Wood screws, acme threads, buttress threads and knuckle threads that were used on railway carriage and wagon couplings were all available from the factory. The dieheads could also be set up for taper threads with an external attachment.

The angle of the ground face is set by the casting without the base fitting.

The following pictures show the three possible combinations of position, plus the top jig can be used without
the base, adding a further setting. The 15 degree setting uses both the horizontal faces, while the 33 degree
and 45 degree settings use the angled faces and one side rest.

Additional marking information for use with special chasers, and a better idea of the relationship
between the 15 degree seats (both laft and right hand horizontal faces) the 33 degree seats (3rd from
the left and extreme right hand) and 45 degree seats (third from the right and extreme left hand)
