The quality of some of the restorations had to be seen to be believed. One family (The Stewarts) had a trailer with an assortment of engines, the one thing in common being the superb finish of the paintwork and fittings. These were not show engines however, they were all run at some time during the day, and ran they did, very well. Trailer-loads of engines all bolted down were quite popular, the Stewart's being one example, but there were others such as a trailer load of Briggs & Stratton engines, or the large trailer with three very large open crank engines all chuffing away at the same time.

As I got away from the large Oilfield engines, the variety of machinery suddenly exploded, with huge numbers of strange looking (to my European eyes) rusty iron in various stages of disrepair and restoration. The standard format of open crank and hit & miss governing suddenly gave way to a new series of vertical engines and also many diesels, more than I would have expected out here.

The big Caterpillar laboratory single cylinder diesels were very impressive, more so when you saw the second unpainted engine round the side of the display and saw the amount of work that had gone into the restored version. Also in that area was a Ruston & Hornsby AP 10HP which was unrestored but looked to be in good condition. It was running on the Saturday and ticked over very quietly.
