The inventors describe a cylinder for a single-acting internal combustion engine having the starting valve and fuel injection valve arranged side by side, and an inner cylinder or liner removable in the direction of the crank, the said liner being provided with an upper cylindrical extension to receive the starting and fuel injection valves, such extension being in one piece with the liner, and forming therewith a solid revolution.
