Lister 5/1 Diesel

Diesel Engine Patents

A H Weston Patent No 913 of 1913

The object of this invention is to provide an apparatus for subjecting heavy oil fuels to a preliminary process of distillation.

The apparatus is not intended to replace the fuel filter tanks generally in use with crude oil engines, but to use it in conjunction with these filter tanks when oils of an exceptionally heavy nature are used for fuel.

The device comprises a reservoir through which are passed tubes which are connected with the exhaust from the engine. In this manner heavy or impure substances are deposited through a perforated plate into a chamber situated at the bottom of the reservoir, from which they may be drained away periodically.

The oil which has been partially purified is passed out through a pipe placed well above the perforated plate.
