This invention relates to means for governing. A secondary charge of combustible is injected into the compressed and ignited charge in the cylinder towards the commencement of the power stroke. This charge may be gaseous liquid, or solid, or a mixture of these, also mixed with air.
The apparatus comprises a valve for admitting the secondary charge to the cylinder controlled in any suitable manner; a reservoir containing air or gas under pressure, which air or gas whilst passing through the pipe to the admission valve may be mixed with liquid or spray from a vessel fitted with an adjustable safety-valve. The liquid and gas may be supplied to the cylinder through two separate valves or two valves on the same spindle.
