Continuous combustion or constant pressure engines having the air charge compressed before admission to the main engine cylinder, by means of a separate pump driven by an auxiliary engine of the same type, have the disadvantage that the latter engine also requires a separate charging pump.

This disadvantage is obviated in the present invention by making a single charging pump supply air to the working cylinders both of the main and the auxiliary engines.
