Lister 5/1 Diesel

Diesel Engine Patents

Rudolf Diesel - Patent No 12306 of 1895

This invention provides for the compression of the air supply for internal combustion engines, such as those described in the former patents, in stages, and for heating and cooling it between the stages of compression.

In one arrangement the air compressed in the lower end of the pump is heated in a tubular vessel by means of the exhaust gases, and is then conveyed to the motor cylinders, wherein it receives its final compression.
