Diesel Engine Patents

K J E Hesselman. - Patent No 21179 of 1907

This invention provides for facilitating the starting of engines, in which the fuel is injected by compressed air by releasing any pressure remaining in the cylinders by opening a relief valve, the operating gear of the admission device being simultaneously thrown out of action.

To effect the above purpose the valve lever is mounted eccentrically on the pivot of the hand lever which opens the relief valve. The device also enables one or more cylinders to be thrown out of action in order to reduce the speed of the engine, or to allow of the air-pump increasing the pressure in the air reservoirs.
