A Bentall Heavy-Duty Chaff Cutter, with the protective cover opened up to show the cutter wheel, feed table at the far rear of the picture, the fast and loose pulleys at the front of the machine with the belt guide prongs at the top, the segmented feed belt hanging underneath the machine and the safety handle sticking up just right of centre of the picture.

The lever and weight underneath the machine are for tensioning the feeder mechanism, and are present on all chaff cutters. The weight can be removed much more quickly than unscrewing a spring tensioner, so for safety reasons the lead weight was adopted.
