How I got started:
One day while riding motorcycles with a close friend I spotted a flyer on a telephone pole that said “Steam Show”. I asked my friend Carl, “What’s that?” “Steam Show” he said. “Let’s go” I said. We did. I liked what I saw and I became a member of the Tri-State Historical Steam Engine Assoc. Inc. which held an engineer school. I and Joe Jr. completed the course and became certified steam traction engine operators.
I had my heart set on the purchase of a 1926 Buffalo Springfield, 12 Ton Road Roller like the one seen elsewhere on this site but, I had no where to store it nor any way to haul it. I would have to store it at the Mineral Beach show site and about the only time I could operate it or, work on it, was there in Finleyville, PA. Therefore I decided it may not be in my best interest to purchase this steam roller and started looking for something smaller.
In August of 1994 I purchased my first engine.
