AN INTRODUCTION TO THE KENT GROUP 2008
The aim of the Club is to bring together people with the common interest of preserving and exhibiting old stationary engines, agricultural tractors and associated machinery. Over the years the interests of the group and its members has expanded to encompass all aspects of our rural heritage from hand tools and domestic items to combine harvesters and heavy haulage. The Kent Group is the OLDEST and LARGEST Club of its type in Kent. It was formed in 1979 and there are currently over 400 members. The Group produces a monthly newsletter which is sent to every member, the National produces a colour magazine “Vaporising” which is sent to every member once a quarter and is included in your subscription. Also included in your subscription is Public Liability Insurance cover which has an indemnity for Five Million Pounds and is underwritten by the NFU. This covers you for exhibiting stationary engines at rallies but you must have your own Road Traffic Act Insurance cover for tractors.
Meetings are held on the third Monday of every month at the Sandyacres Sports and Social Club, Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford 7.30 for an 8pm start – see map below. It is a nice clean, bright and large venue with a licensed bar which also serves tea and coffee and there are a very wide variety of speakers and evenings. Why not join us without any obligation to sample an evening before enrolling, there will not be any pressure on you to join and any queries can be answered on the spot.
