Ever since seeing Hugh Stannard's cakebreaker at the Abbey Pumping Station Urban Rally in 2001, I was keen to have one of these fascinating pieces of machinery myself. To save transAtlantic money exchanges, Jim French traded me this cake breaker he located for a set of bearings for his Hercules engine! The plate shown in the last picture isn't clear, but adds a nice touch with the French family connection - it says "Leicester". |
