The Steam Traction Engine

Here's the steam traction engine my father and I built. It is close to being 1/4 scale of maybe a case 65 or something, but not exactly. This is just to give you an idea of the size. The engine itself can produce up to 1HP. You might think that this size engine would be fairly easy to operate but if you work it on a fan or something, it will work you. Seems like all you get done is feeding it wood or coal and water. It's a continuous cycle, more fuel, more water, keep an eye on the oilers, watch the pressure gage, water level etc. Steam engines require the operators complete attention. I tried to take a lot of pics during construction, when I could remember to grab the camera, and then sorting through all those images, it's hard sometimes to decide what to put up here! I've tried not to put too many images on one page so they load faster, but if you have a slow connection be patient, and they will load.
