Paint.
When painting up our prize engine we can and sometimes overlook the paint we use. I have done this myself only once, we go to all the trouble to clean and prepare our restoration for painting and buy the wrong paint, yeh we got the colour right but that’s all. How many of us have painted an engine or machinery, put petrol in the tank well after the paint has dried for more than a week, only to find when we spilt it the paint washed off and spoilt it, choice words are usually used when this happens. Well this is the answer use kill rust no primer paint if the engine is going to be green use kill rust Brunswick deep green let dry for 24 hours and give it another coat, leave to dry for 3 to 5 days and she will be ready for showing. The other paint to use is 2 pack enamel good paint but dear, best way to apply is to spay it on, gives a great finish, I use the kill rust range because you can brush it on or mix it up in a gun and spay it but like all enamel it will go over everything, so cover up what you don’t want that colour if spaying. polishing brass I use autosol metal polish it is available at most auto shops and take a little effort to shine up the brass work, but don’t put a lot on the cloth a bit at a time gives the best results, ok till next time great restoring
